Historical sources

A meticulously arranged workspace dedicated to interpreting historical sources: an open notebook filled with color-coded annotations beside a printed primary source, its key sentences highlighted with transparent tape flags. A tablet displays a zoomed-in digital scan of the same document, revealing marginal notes and ink blots. Sticky notes with short, typed research questions are neatly placed along the table’s edge. Soft, warm desk-lamp lighting creates a pool of illumination on the sources while the background fades into gentle shadow, evoking focus and concentration. Photographic realism at a slightly elevated angle, with moderate depth of field, conveys the intellectual process of questioning, comparing, and interpreting evidence rather than merely reading it.
